Course Description

Are you a CDA or Dental Hygienist seeking a unique professional development opportunity? Obtain your British Columbia College of Oral Health Professionals Orthodontic Module via online theory with tutor support through Okanagan College. Theory sessions will be followed by an examination and a weekend clinic at our Kelowna campus. Successful students are eligible to apply for BCCOHP Orthodontic Assistant designation.

Prerequisites

1. Proof of a practicing license as a Certified Dental Assistant or Dental Hygienist with the BCCOHP.

2. One year of clinical experience in a dental practice. (Recommended).

3. Completed consent form for separating teeth. During the clinical portion of this program, participants will work intraorally on each other and are required to have adequate bandable teeth. If in braces, participants will be required to de-wire and de-bracket some teeth. Alternatively, participants will need to provide a stand-in.

Theory starts February 4th, entirely online and self-paced.

Clinical weekend held on Easter weekend Friday April 18 - Sunday April 20. Students must come to Kelowna campus for the clinical weekend.  More information will be provided on Moodle.

No textbook required.
