Please contact Continuing Studies for application forms and registration information at 250-862-5480. Limited space available. Please do not register online until you have contacted our office.

This course is offered to CDAs or Dental Hygienists as a professional development opportunity to those who wish to obtain the Orthodontic Module through The British Columbia College of Oral Health Professionals (BCCOHP). Students will complete the theory component through an online platform with tutor support. This is followed by a theory examination and a weekend clinical held at the Okanagan College Kelowna campus. Successful students will then be eligible to apply for the Orthodontic Assistant designation with the BCCOHP. Prerequisites:

1. Proof of a practicing license as a Certified Dental Assistant or Dental Hygienist with the BCCOHP.

2. One year of clinical experience in a dental practice. (Recommended).

3. Completed consent form for separating teeth. During the clinical portion of this program, participants will work intraorally on each other and are required to have adequate bandable teeth. If in braces, participants will be required to de-wire and de-bracket some teeth. Alternatively, participants will need to provide a stand-in.
