This course will cover the inspection requirements for private and commercially licensed vehicles, most commercially licensed trailers, and all buses and taxis. Persons wishing to become authorized inspectors must have a journeyperson Trade Qualification and/or Canadian Red Seal rating issued by the Industry Training Authority in: Automotive Mechanical Service Technician, Truck and Transport Mechanic, Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Motorcycle Repair or Transport Trailer Technician; and have attended and successfully completed an inspectors course given by an accredited instructor trainer. This 20-hour course includes practical hands-on methods and the administration procedure used in the implementation of the Vehicle Inspection Program. Successful completion of this course provides the applicant with the eligibility to write the Commercial and Private Vehicle Inspection Administration and Procedures examination.

 

Prerequisites

Prerequisite: BC or Red Seal equivalent Journeyperson Trade qualification in:

  • Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
  • Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic/Technician
  • Commercial Transport Trailer Technician
  • Automotive Service Technician
  • Motorcycle Mechanic/Technician (required to be authorized for motorcycle inspections)
