Course Description

The trades sampler program is ideal for students aged 16 and older wishing to learn hands-on skills, earn general employment certifications, and explore careers in the trades.

This program is a unique opportunity to explore a variety of trades including Carpentry, Collison, Electrical, Heavy Mechanical, Welding, Sheet Metal and Plumbing. You will acquire basic skills that will prove fundamental if you decide to become a tradesperson. At the end of the program, you are certified in Forklift, First Aid, Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), and you are ready to enter trade foundation training or seek an apprenticeship in the trade of your choice.

Students that complete the sampler program may seek employment in entry-level trades positions or apply for a foundation training programs at Okanagan College.

Participants must supply their own PPE including steel-toe boots and cotton coveralls.
