Course Description

This 16-hour course offers participants a comprehensive understanding of key aspects of diesel tractor maintenance. Focusing on tractors with less than 100 horsepower, participants will learn about tractor safety, component identification, basic electrical and hydraulic systems, and diesel engine fundamentals. While primarily designed for employees within the tree fruit or wine grape industries, the course content holds relevance for anyone involved in tractor operations.

Course components include:

  • Tractor safety covering legislation, hazards, operating on slopes, safety principles, inspections, and safe use of implements.
  • Tractor components and maintenance including spring start up procedures, pre-checks and diagnostics and winterizing techniques.
  • Basic electrical and hydraulics including fundamental concepts and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Diesel engine fundamentals explores the principles of diesel engines, routine servicing procedures, and common repair techniques.

No prior experience with diesel tractors is required.
