Course Description

This Intermediary Module 1 will be an online/synchronous and asynchronous training course. This course will be delivered in partnership with the Canadian Home Builders’ Association. This course provides the theoretical foundation for the practical learning in the micro-credential. Learners will explore regulatory requirements, various types of exterior environments, and understand how to perform visual assessments. Energy performance, sound transmission control, and building code safety and security requirements are covered. Lastly learners will understand features and labelling requirements for products in the industry.

Note: Registration is in partnership with the Canadian Homebuilders Association BC (CHBA), please follow this link to register for Module 1.

Module 2 registration is done through Okanagan College Trades Continuing Studies, 

Learner Outcomes

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
  • Perform an initial visual assessments
  • Identify the different types of exterior environment;
  • Explain the regulatory requirements;
  • Understand the building code safety and security requirements
  • Describe energy performance
  • Understand the control of sound transmission
  • Describe product features and labelling requirements with regard to products used in retrofit projects.
